Boop!
I’ve been so busy with custom makes that I just haven’t had any time to sit down and write something down and test it, but I made Boop! on a whim for a customer with a small child was having a birthday, and I managed to re-test the pattern over the last couple of weeks.
Materials
- Approximately 20 g of Main Colour (MC), 30 g of Contrast Colour (CC), Oddments of White and Black for eyes and Pink for mouth
- 2.75 mm crochet hook for DK yarn, 3.5 mm crochet hook for Aran yarn, 4.5 mm hook for chunky yarn
- Tapestry Needle
- Stitch marker
- Toy stuffing
Skill Level
Easy. You will need to be able to work sc stitches, to increase and decrease and to change colours in the round. You will need to be able to make dc popcorn stitches for the toes and thumbs. You will also need to be able to make dc and hdc stitches for the mouth.
Abbreviations
Please note that I am using US crochet terms throughout. I am actually British, but I find the US terms more intuitive. Measurements are metric.
sc – single crochet (UK = dc)
hdc – half double crochet (UK = htr)
dc – double crochet (UK = tr)
sl – slip stitch
ch – chain
mr – magic ring
st – stitch
inc – increase by 2 st (2 stitches into the same stitch from previous row)
dec – decrease over 2 st (1 stitch across 2 stitches from previous row)
start(x) – Either mr (x sc in mr) or ch2, x sc in 2nd chain from hook –
whatever you like best [I am personally not a fan of mr and just
stick to the ch2 method]
(x) – x = number of stitches at end of round
Y/O – Yarn Over
F/O – Fasten Off
BLO – Back Loops Only
Special Stitch: 4-dc popcorn –Y/O, insert hook into st,Y/O and pull through loop (3 loops on hook), Y/O and pull through 2 (2 loops on hook). Repeat 4 times, pulling though only 2 loops at a time on the last Y/O. You should now have 5 loops on the hook. Y/O and pull through all 5 loops. Ch1.
